FAQs

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Gyro 10k run.

Q/ What time does the race start?

The race starts at 10.30am, but registration will open at 9.00am, please ensure you register by 10.15am to allow time for you to make your way to the start line.

Q/ What should I bring?

You can come dressed ready for action, or change when you arrive. In any case, you will need to bring a change of clothes for after the race and a towel if you want to take a shower.

Other necessities include plenty of sports drink or water to drink before the race.

Q/ Is there somewhere that I can leave my bag?

There will be a bag drop close to the start line. We strongly recommend that you don’t leave anything in the changing rooms. There are lockers that you can pay to use – but the easiest thing to do is to put all of your spare clothes and valuables in a zipped bag to leave at the bag drop before the race, and then collect afterwards. Bags will be left at your own risk.

Q/ Are roads closed to traffic?

No, please note that the first section of the route follows a public road which is normally very quiet – but which has not been closed to traffic. Please watch out for all vehicles in both directions and take special care around the blind bends past the Riverside Club and old boathouse.

Q/ How do I get there?

Nearest train station is Barnes Bridge – not Barnes. Cross the Thames by railway bridge and follow the signposts.

Q/ Is there water available?

There will be a number of water stations throughout the course. Please bring your own water for the start of the race and ensure that you stay fully hydrated throughout.

Q/ How much of my entrance money goes directly to SportsAid?

Gyro cover all running costs of the event, so 100% of your entrance money goes to SportsAid.

Q/ Can friends and family come to support me?

Yes, bring them all along to enjoy the BBQ, kids’ entertainer and sporting activities. For a £5 donation to SportsAid, supporters can enjoy the BBQ and refreshments after the race.

Q/ I’m not a runner – can I still get involved?

If you’re not able to run but would like to offer your support, we will need volunteers on the day to help set-up, man the water stations and act as marshals. If you’d like to sign up to volunteer please email 10k@gyrointernational.com with your contact details.
